Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
“Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.”
Statutory Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage, 2021
At New Brighton Primary School we greatly value the importance of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in providing a secure foundation for future learning and development and we understand our responsibilities in ensuring that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
We carefully plan activities that stimulate and engage, providing experiences that our children, particularly those who are disadvantaged, may not have had before. We regularly make use of the local area and environment to help to provide the children with a real understanding of ‘their’ world.
We strive for our children to make excellent progress from their starting points, with interventions planned when required to give every child the best possible chance of achieving a good level of development at the end of their time in EYFS.
