Meet The Governors
Below is a list of our current governing body. We operate a circle model for our governing committee which means all governors are present for committe meetings which are held six times a year.
Linda Cook
Chair of Governors

Linda has been a governor since December 2012 and was appointed Chair in September 2016. Linda stepped into the Vice Chair of Governors role in September 2023, and has been Chair since September 2024
In November 2016, Linda completed the National College Governor Leadership Programme and a Governor Development Programme in January 2020.
Linda works in Local Government Finance and is a volunteer for Claire House Children's Hospice.

Lesley King
Vice Chair of Governors

Lesley is an ex parent of New Brighton. She has over a decade of experience of being a parent governor and is now a co-opted governor. Lesley is Vice Chair from September 2024
Lesley has a background in government finance and volunteers both at Maggies Cancer Care Charity and The Floral Pavillion.

Daniel Armer
Headteacher

Daniel Joined New Brighton Primary School in January 2022 as Headteacher. Before joining the school he had been both a
Headteacher and Acting Headteacher in Cheshire West and Chester. During his leadership roles, he has been involved with
three different Governing Bodies, one being a federated Governing Body.
Daniel started teaching in 2005 and over his career he has worked in a number of settings, gaining valuable experience of
a range of schools, demographics and counties. Prior to teaching, he qualified with a Zoology degree and worked for
Merseyside Mounted Police for a period of time.
Lindsey Marshall

Lindsey is an experienced teacher. Her daughter has recently started at school, and her son also attended.
Lindsey is on the subject team for History and has a keen interest in local history.

Claire Evans

Claire has worked at New Brighton since 2007 and has been a governor since 2010.
Claire has worked as a classroom assistant and Higher Level Teaching Assistant across all phases of school covering PPA.
She has a background in ICT, supporting schools across the North West, and is part of the school computing team. Claire
has a degree in Teaching, Learning and Mentoring and is currently establishing her new role as Safeguarding and
Pastoral lead.

Dr Kieran Grey

Kieran Grey is a parent of 4 children, 2 of whom are at NBPS. He is a local GP, lives in New Brighton and cares passionately
about the health, welfare and education of our children andhopes to support NBPS to achieve the best outcomes for all students.
In his free time he can be spotted on a paddleboard on the beach, annoying the neighbours with loud guitar or trying to
live 'the good life' in his garden.

Emma Jones

Emma is an experienced Secondary English teacher and currently serves as Director of SEND at a local secondary school. Her professional expertise provides her with a strong understanding of the education sector, particularly in the areas of inclusion and special educational needs. Emma is passionate about promoting inclusive education and addressing educational inequalities to ensure all students have access to the support they need to succeed. As a parent governor, she is committed to using her knowledge and experience to contribute positively to the school community and its ongoing development.

I am deputy headteacher leading on curriculum and teaching at a Wirral secondary school. I am invested in New Brighton Primary School as my child attends the school, but I have a passion for all children achieving great outcomes both personally and academically. I have a background in leading on maths, reading and SEND and have recently seen my school recognised as good. Being a member of my school's governing body, I see the impact experienced and committed governors have on the school and hope to be able to contribute positively to NBPS.

After retiring from a career in senior management posts in universities and secondary schools in Durham, Newcastle and London, I returned to Wallasey and now live in New Brighton. Since retiring over 10 years ago I volunteer at The Floral Pavilion and for cultural events on the Wirral and Liverpool. I’m also a Governor of a girls’ secondary school in London. I’m a regular theatre and cinema goer and a proud former pupil of NBPS!

I have been the Chair of Governors at a Special Needs School in St Helens, that is OFSTED Outstanding, for 16 years. I have a knowledge of special needs education, safeguarding and child protection. I am aware of how important the curriculum is to ensure all pupils receive a fair and supportive education. I spent much of my career in social care, working alongside children, families, social workers and Local Authorities. I understand the importance of individual education plans. A key part of the governance role for the Governing Body is to challenge by asking questions but it is also important to be supportive as well. I have been a Governor for many years, in addition to my role at the Special Needs school, I was also a Parent Governor at a local Primary School when my children attended there. I have always enjoyed being a part of the school community and performing these responsible roles. I will remain as Chair of Governors with the other School, and I would like to be considered to join the Governing Body at New Brighton Primary.

John is our Deputy Head and has been at the school for 15 years as a classroom teacher, member of the senior leadership
team, assistant head and was acting head between June and December 2021. John advises the Governing Body but does
not have voting rights.

Mother-of-two with a son currently in Year 6, Sharon is a self-employed marketing consultant with over 20 years’
experience in strategy and planning, PR and communications. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and experienceto help make a difference and is keen to support the school with raising its profile within the wider community and celebrating all the great work and initiatives, such as Beach School, the NBPS Garden and sporting accomplishments. Interests include yoga, reading, films and attending concerts.

Ben Rosser

Ben Rosser is a parent of two children; his eldest is in attendance at New Brighton Primary School. He is a Clinical
Psychologist, currently working in Higher Education as a researcher and lecturer. He is passionate about helping the
school balance the pupils’ educational and wellbeing needs; supporting all children, whatever their strengths, to reach
their potential.

Lucy Barker

Lucy has been a governor since December 2016 and Vice Chairsince September 2018. She completed a GovernorDevelopment Programme in January 2020.
Each of Lucy’s four children have attended the school. She takes a keen interest in literacy, especially phonics. Lucy is the SEND governor.
